Visa Blue features performances by Ajai Culmer as JR and Hartman Brown as James, portraying the complexities of a father-son relationship shaped by identity, societal-normalities, and ambition. Produced with a crew of seven, the film was completed over a single day of principal photography.
The film was intentionally written and directed to reflect the authenticity of Bahamian culture through its dialogue and performances. Rather than relying entirely on exposition, the story unfolds through restrained performances, visual symbolism, and quiet moments of tension, inviting audiences to experience the emotional distance between father and son. Its cinematography was cradted to amplify those undertones through a natural teal-and-orange color palette, with teal serving as a visual representation of the film’s emotional blues.
The production moved through four key phases:
Storyboards, shot lists, location scouting, casting, wardrobe, and production logistics were carefully planned to maximize efficiency while preserving the film’s intimate and natural aesthetic. With only a single day allocated for production, every scene was meticulously scheduled to ensure the film could be completed without compromising its creative vision.
Principal photography was completed in a single day with a crew of seven. Filmed in full-frame 6K, the production combined practical and artificial lighting to create imagery that felt grounded in realism while carrying subtle nostalgic undertones.
Post-production was completed over approximately three weeks. Picture editing, color grading, and picture lock were finalized within the first two weeks, followed by sound design, dialogue editing, audio mixing, and final mastering to complete the film’s cinematic finish.
The completed film was mastered for festival exhibition and digital distribution. Upon completion, all project assets were archived through Dropbox and Vimeo, providing secure, long-term access for future distribution, promotional materials, and archival purposes.
